Root Canals in Chilliwack
When the hard surface of the tooth becomes damaged due to chips, cracks, or tooth decay, bacteria can penetrate the soft pulp inside the teeth. This can cause an infection that affects the health of the entire tooth. In order to combat the infection, your dentist will perform a root canal.
Do You Need a Root Canal?
Signs you may need a root canal include pain, discomfort when biting and chewing, and sensitivity to hot and cold foods. If you notice any of these symptoms, it is best to visit your dentist early, so they can start a treatment plan.
What Is the Root Canal Procedure?
Your dentist will administer a local anesthetic to numb the area. They will then drill a hole in the tooth and remove the infected portion of the dental pulp. After cleaning the area, your dentist will seal the canal and fill the cavity with a permanent filling or crown.
