Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is given through a mask placed directly over the nose. The relaxation benefits of the gas are felt right away and wear off almost immediately after the mask is removed. This type of sedation is perfect for both children and adults who experience mild levels of anxiety.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedation comes in pill form and is usually taken an hour before your appointment. Similar to nitrous oxide, oral sedation helps you to relax during your treatment but has a more potent and amnesiac effect. The effects of oral sedation are longer lasting, so patients will need someone to accompany them to and from their appointment.
